Jessie Purcell
Co-owner and Head Coach

“If I can facilitate the process where people step out of their comfort zone and see what they are truly made of using functional fitness, then I feel as though I have opened a vault of unlimited potential in their lives.”

Jessie has been a fitness buff from a young age. She graduated from James Madison University with a B.S. in Kinesiology and has worked in fitness and health ever since. As a Wellness Coordinator and personal trainer at a local retirement community, transitioning to coaching CrossFit came naturally to Jessie. The relationships she has built within the Staunton community has enriched her life. She feels that while it’s her job to encourage and motivate the athletes, she draws just as much motivation and inspiration from them. It is her goal to encourage people to reach their full potential.

Kelly Lum
Co-owner and Coach

Trainer Kelly Lum wants kids to know that fitness can be fun! “I’m particularly passionate about helping young girls realize that they are strong and tough!” she says.

Kelly discovered CrossFit after gaining 72 pounds when she was pregnant with her oldest son. She tried a ton of different fitness fads, but finally realized working out alone in her garage left something to be desired. After watching the CrossFit Games on TV, she decided to give it a shot. It was love at first lift.

“I LOVE the mental challenge of getting through each work out,” she says. “But the thing I didn’t expect, the thing that sets CrossFit apart, is the people. The amazing coaches and athletes challenge me to become a better person in every aspect of my life!”

Rachel Drumheller

“Coaching is truly my passion. I enjoy helping others learn their way around fitness, seeing growth and physical development. It’s especially exciting to see people excel when they never truly believed they could.”

Rachel has been coaching in some capacity for years whether for recreational leagues or high school cross country so CrossFit was the next step for her coaching career. She specializes in powerlifting and seeing all the progress the athletes make over time with dedication and hard work.

Josh Cooper

He discovered Crossfit after a 2 year fitness hiatus after being a 3 sport athlete in high school. He showed up to Crossfit Staunton to get back in shape, he didn’t realize it was going to become such a huge part of his life. After 3 years he decided he wanted to help others feel the way he does about his health and fitness so he got his L1 in November 2017 and started his coaching journey in December.

Matt Gregory

Matt grew up playing sports all year round: football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball and track in the spring/summer. He started playing football at the age of eight and it quickly became his favorite sport. After a season ending injury in his senior year of high school he knew he wanted nothing more than to continue playing the sport he loved. Matt got that chance when he received an offer to play college football at Southern Virginia University. There he went on to start three years and receive multiple awards including 2x Defensive player of the week and a spot on the NJAC Football - All Conference team. After fours years of football Matt felt like something was missing- “ I had a friend that kept asking me to workout with him, and one day I finally decided to go through with it. It was a crossFit workout and it totally obliterated me. I’ve been doing crossFit ever since!”


The more I got into Crossfit, the more I started to realize that everybody needs to be doing this. Thats what led me down the path of wanting to be a coach. I want to be able to help people accomplish their fitness goals no matter what they are. In doing this, people will live happier and healthier lives.
